Ukrainian forces have eliminated Russian soldiers from the Akhmat special forces unit and the 155th Separate Marine Brigade in Russia's Kursk Oblast, Ukraine's 95th Separate Assault Brigade reported on Sunday, Oct. 27.

The brigade shared footage showing the destruction of enemy forces during assaults in the Kursk region.

The soldiers of the 95th Brigade highlighted that the occupiers from the 155th Marine Brigade are known for their “particular cruelty toward Ukrainians.” They also reported capturing prisoners.

“Only two of the Russians had the sense to save their lives by surrendering. They were provided with medical aid right away,” noted the soldiers of the 95th Air Assault Brigade, adding that the rest of the occupiers were killed in combat.

Key Points on the Situation in Kursk Oblast

The Ukrainian Armed Forces began their Kursk operation on Aug. 6. It wasn’t until Aug. 12 that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky officially confirmed that Defense Forces were conducting an operation in Russia’s Kursk Oblast.

He emphasized that the operation’s goal is to free Ukraine’s border areas from Russian forces, which have been consistently shelling Sumy Oblast.

Since August, Russia has been gradually building up its forces in this sector, and on Oct. 10, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, reported that Russia had transferred 50,000 troops to Kursk Oblast from other directions.
