Ukraine's 5th assault Brigade Deploys Unmanned Combat Vehicle

Ukraine is now deploying unmanned - but operator controlled robotic gun platforms. The purpose is to reduce casualties in both offensive and defensive situations. It can also deliver supplies and evacuate wounded.

While the current version carries only a light machine gun, future models can carry anti-tank and other weapons. JL

Militarnyi reports:

Soldiers of the 5th Assault Brigade of Ukraine showed the combat use of the Ukrainian Ironclad ground unmanned combat platform on an enemy position using a heavy machine gun. The maximum speed of the platform is 20 kilometers per hour by road, on the off-road – up to 15 kilometers. The range is130 kilometers, and the control range – up to 5 kilometers. The armored hull withstands fire from 7.62 mm ammunition. The operator will control them, and will choose which goals to hit.

Soldiers of the 5th Assault Brigade of Armed Forces of Ukraine showed the combat use of the Ukrainian Ironclad ground unmanned combat platform.

It is stated in the report of the press service of Ground Forces.

The video shows a fragment of the platform’s combat engagement on an enemy position using a heavy machine gun.

It is known that the Ironclad uses the Ukrainian ShaBlya M2 remote weapon station, on which 7.62mm or 12.7mm machine guns are optionally installed.

The exact technical characteristics of the modern version of the platform are not known, however, focusing on the characteristics declared for full-scale war, the net weight is 1800 kilograms, the maximum payload is up to 350 kilograms.

It is also known that the maximum speed of the platform reaches about 20 kilometers per hour by road, on the off-road – up to 15 kilometers.

The range on one reaches 130 kilometers, and the control range – up to 5 kilometers, with a repeater – up to 10. Ironclad armored hull withstands fire from 7.62 mm ammunition.

In July 2023, Militarnyi reported that the Ministry of Defense named three main priorities for the development of Ukrainian military ground drones.

The first priority was the creation of logistic unmanned platforms. They should work at the front in the near zone. In those places where there is direct contact between the Ukrainian military and the enemy.

Such ground drones will allow evacuating wounded Defense Forces troops or delivering ammunition and provisions to hard-to-reach Ukrainian positions, the path to which is shot by Russian invaders.

The second priority is the development of combat drones that will be equipped with light weapons systems. These can be automatic grenade launchers and machine guns or anti-tank weapons that will be attached to the hull.

The operator will control them, and he will choose which goals to hit.
