Russian Prison Warden In Kherson Wounded In Car Bombing

Ukrainian partisans made an assassination attempt on the life of a local prison warden who had agreed to work with the Russian occupation authorities. He was wounded but is reportedly alive.

It doesn't look like Russian efforts to win the hearts and minds of Kherson's citizens is going very well. JL 

Ukrainska Pravda reports:

Ukrainians attempted to assassinate Yevhen Soboliev, the director of Pivnich correctional facility No. 3, who has gone over to the side of the occupiers. His car was blown up on Admiral Seniavin Avenue in Kherson. The blast shattered windows in neighbouring houses and damaged trees in the street. It has been confirmed that he was wounded and is now in hospital, but his life is not in danger. The occupiers say this was done by Ukrainian partisans.

A car belonging to the collaborator Yevhen Soboliev, the director of a correctional facility, has been blown up on Admiral Seniavin Avenue in Kherson. The occupiers say this was done by Ukrainian partisans.

Details: The blast shattered windows in neighbouring houses and damaged trees in the street, among other things.

According to the media, an explosive device attached to a tree was detonated on the car. The driver survived.

The Russians claimed this was a terrorist attack carried out by Ukrainian partisans.

Update: Kremlin-aligned media is reporting that the Ukrainians have attempted to assassinate Yevhen Soboliev, the director of Pivnich correctional facility No. 3, who has gone over to the side of the occupiers.

Background:

•     On 9 June it was revealed that the occupiers are bringing their families over to Kherson Oblast in an attempt to convince the locals that they will be staying there forever.

•     The occupying authorities organised a celebration of Russia Day in the Kherson region which was ignored by the local population.

•     On 11 June only 23 people in Kherson collected their Russian passports, among them Volodymyr Saldo, collaborator and ex-mayor of the city.

·        Kirill Stremousov, a traitor who is collaborating with the Russian occupiers in Kherson Oblast, has claimed that the occupying authorities will fire government officials if they sabotage the collaboration with the occupiers and fail to get the message about the "region’s future as a part of Russia" across to the population.
