As More Russian Pokrovsk Assaults Are Repulsed, Ukraine Retakes Strong Points

More than six months after launching an offensive towards Pokrovsk, the fall of which many western media declared 'inevitable,' the Russians continue to fail to make much progress while suffering thousands of dead and wounded.

Ukrainian defenders appear to have zeroed in on both Russian tactics and approach vectors, reducing most assaults to mass casualty events illuminated by flaming armored vehicle wreckage. JL

Militarnyi reports:

Soldiers of the 425th Skala Assault Regiment destroyed an enemy assault group in Kotlyne near Pokrovsk. The control of Kotlyne is important to the defense of Pokrovsk. The Russians constantly send fresh assault forces to seize the village and the area around it to expand control to the north along the railroad that runs through it. This is not the first time that the SKALA Regiment have stormed this network of trenches and the village, returning control to the Ukrainian Defense Forces and taking prisoners of war.

Soldiers of the 425th Skala Separate Assault Regiment destroyed an enemy assault group in Kotlyne near Pokrovsk while trying to counterattack Ukrainian positions.

The video was posted on the military unit’s Telegram channel.

At first, Ukrainian soldiers entered the destroyed village on an M113 tracked armored personnel carrier, disembarked, and began to carry out a sweep.

One of the enemy groups of two soldiers escaped from their hiding place after practicing attack drones before the Skala Regiment’s soldiers landed.

The second group of four invaders left the other position before the arrival of the next assault group on vehicles, and Ukrainian soldiers completed the clearing of the trench.

After that, the military, accompanied by a drone, moved deeper into the village and took up positions in dilapidated houses.

Probably having received the order “not a step back,” a group of four invaders who had previously fled their positions tried to knock out the fighters of the SKALA Regiment.

Since all these movements were monitored by a Ukrainian drone and the soldiers at the position knew the situation around them, the enemy group was destroyed on approach.

For a group of half a full-time unit, it was well armed: two machine guns and radio stations were the trophies of the regiment’s assault troops. Although, as we know, the Russian military has only one handgun of the RPK or RPK-74 type at the level of a unit.

The control of Kotlyne village is important, so the invaders concentrate large forces there. The enemy is constantly sending fresh assault forces to seize the village and the area around it to expand control to the north along the railroad that runs through it. This is why it is not the first time that the fighters of the SKALA Regiment have stormed this network of trenches and the village, returning control to the Ukrainian Defense Forces and taking prisoners of war.
