Ukrainian Special Operators Destroy, Capture Russian Marines In Kursk

More evidence is emerging of how Ukrainian forces are disrupting and stalling attempted Russian advances in Kursk oblast. 

Special operations units, working with mechanized and airborne assault brigades, are infiltrating behind Russian lines, degrading command, control, logistics and artillery support, making it difficult for the Russians to prepare to launch attacks, let alone carry them out. This is part of the reason why the Russians' expected advances have gained so little ground. JL

The 73rd Special Operations together with the 6th Ranger Regiment, destroyed or captured a platoon of Russian marines in the Kursk region. The SOF operators infiltrated the positions of the 810th Marine Brigade. Most of these operations involve discreet infiltration into the rear of Russian positions on the front line and a sudden coordinated attack. This is in preparation for the takeover of positions by mechanized and airborne assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The special forces are also setting up highway ambushes using precision weapons, such as M712 Coppehead laser-guided projectiles.

The press service of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine released the video of the incident.

The SOF operators infiltrated the positions of the 810th Marine Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces in the Kursk region and eliminated 17 Russian soldiers in a firefight. As a result of the successful assault, another 12 enemy soldiers were trapped in foxholes and taken prisoner.

 

Currently, numerous Special Operations Forces units are actively working in the Kursk sector, focusing on raids and ambushes.

In particular, the other day, the Special Forces raided enemy positions, eliminated seven invaders, and captured eight more. On November 25, they conducted a swift raid on the positions and eliminated ten enemy fighters.

Judging by the footage, most of these operations involve discreet infiltration into the rear of Russian positions on the front line and a sudden coordinated attack. This is likely to be part of the preparation for the takeover of positions by mechanized and airborne assault units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

 

Units of the SOF rangers are setting up highway ambushes, undermining the logistics of the advanced units of the Russian Armed Forces.

The released footage shows that the fighters actively use camouflage suits, weapon silencers, night vision devices, and support from tactical copters with thermal imaging optics.

Militarnyi previously reported that Ukrainian special forces are also performing the tasks of advanced precision weapons units, such as M712 Coppehead laser-guided projectiles.

 

It is reported that the Special Forces first tested this munition in the Kursk region between August and September of this year, examining its effectiveness and accuracy.

The Special Forces used a LEONARDO Type 163 Laser target designator portable station to guide the 155-mm projectile.
