More Ukraine Counterattacks Retake Russian Positions At Pokrovsk

The trend appears to be that Russian attacks have stalled while opportunistic Ukrainian counterattacks regain crucial positions which further disrupts Russian assault plans. JL

In the Pokrovsk sector, the Russians placed fortifications in a forested area, which was supposed to facilitate defense and camouflage. Ukraine's 33rd Assault Battalion’s assault troops conducted a successful operation to capture enemy’s dugouts and trenches. Artillery, drones and infantry were used. During the storming, the Ukrainian military did not allow the occupiers to move out of them, by throwing hand grenades to keep the Russians in place.

In the Pokrovsk sector, the 33rd Assault Battalion’s assault troops managed to conduct a successful operation and capture an occupant’s dugout.

The 33rd Assault Battalion said the operation had taken place on December 12.

The Russians placed the fortifications in a forested area, which was supposed to facilitate defense and camouflage.

 

Artillery, drones and infantry were used to storm these dugouts.

The drones adjusted the artillery strikes and then corrected the actions of the stormtroopers themselves.

 

During the storming of the dugouts, the Ukrainian military did not allow the occupiers to move out of them, and their hiding places were thrown with hand grenades.

At the same time, the battalion’s fighters are now also having to repel Russian assaults on their positions.

 

“About 20 invaders tried to break through to our positions. We fought back with everything we could. One of the mines hit very accurately, sending six orcs to hell at once,” the battalion said on December 13.

Russian troops have been advancing toward Pokrovsk virtually nonstop for about 10 months, after having occupied Avdiivka in late February 2024.

 

During this time, they managed to travel almost 50 kilometers deep into Ukrainian territory and approached the last major industrial center of the Donetsk region under the control of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.

The Ukrainian command managed to slow down the enemy’s rapid advance in late summer by redeploying reserves.

Previously, the soldiers of the Special Operations Center Omega of the National Guard of Ukraine stormed enemy trenches in the Pokrovsk sector.
