Ukrainians Outflank Russians At Kurkhove As Weather Slows Operations

Overstretched Russian forces are giving Ukrainian troops opportunities to take advantage of their massive casualties and equipment losses across the front. 

Most recently, at Kurakhove, Ukrainian counterattacks outflanked Russian units, forcing them to withdraw or surrender. JL

Ukraine’s Defense Forces made gains southeast of Koreniv in Russia's Kursk Oblast, particularly in the eastern part of Novoivanivka. Worsening weather conditions are slowing both Ukrainian and Russian operations in the region. Ukrainian forces also making advances southeast of Kurakhove in Donetsk Oblast. Ukrainian troops have moved west of Pobieda, getting behind Russian forces attempting to push toward Dalnie, south of Kurakhove.

Ukrainian forces have advanced in Russia's Kursk Oblast and near Kurakhove in Donetsk Oblast, while Russian occupiers have gained ground around Kupiansk, Toretsk, and Vuhledar, according to the latest report from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) on Nov. 15.

Analysts say Ukraine’s Defense Forces made gains southeast of Koreniv in Russia's Kursk Oblast, particularly in the eastern part of Novoivanivka. Russian troops may have moved forward near Mala Loknia and Martynivka, in the Sudzha area, as well as around Olhivka. Russian military bloggers are reporting that worsening weather conditions are slowing both Ukrainian and Russian operations in the region.

Geolocated footage from Nov. 14 shows Ukrainian forces also making advances southeast of Kurakhove in Donetsk Oblast. The ISW notes that Ukrainian troops have moved west of Pobieda, getting behind Russian forces attempting to push toward Dalnie, south of Kurakhove.

Meanwhile, ISW reports that Russian forces have continued their advance on the eastern side of Kupiansk in Kharkiv Oblast. According to Russian military bloggers, the occupiers have dug in on the outskirts of the city and are setting up logistical networks to support future offensives.

The ISW confirms these developments, warning that further Russian advances into central and western Kupiansk, combined with recent gains around Kolesnykivka and Kruhliaivka, could force Ukrainian troops to retreat from positions southeast of the city.

Analysts also note that Russian forces have made progress in Toretsk and south of Pokrovsk in Donetsk Oblast. Near Vuhledar, Russians have reportedly captured the settlement of Antonivka.
