Embarrassed By Vovchansk Aggregate Plant Loss, Russians Try Again...and Again

The Russian troops trapped in the Vovchansk Aggregate plant reportedly resorted to cannibalism before Ukrainian special forces took it. It remains tactically non-viable and strategically unimportant, but the Russian command is so embarrassed and angry about being chased out that they are refusing to let go and attempting to regain or destroy it. On Sept. 24 the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant was liberated from Russian troops. A operation was carried out by reconnaissance units from the Special Unit Timur, fighters from the Stuhna, Paragon, Junger, RDK, Teror, and BDK units. The plant's buildings were heavily damaged, but it is still possible to maintain a defense there. "The enemy has no tactical or strategic goal, but this was a significant image blow for them, losing this object. They are following their standard practice of destroying what they cannot control,"

The situation at the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant remains tense due to constant Russian attacks, Kharkiv Operational-Tactical Troop Grouping spokesperson Vitaliy Sarantsev said on national television on Sept. 30.

The situation at the plant has been particularly tense and complex since its liberation by units of the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) as the plant has become the primary target for the adversary.

"The enemy has no tactical or strategic goal, but this was a significant image blow for them, losing this object," Sarantsev said.

The Russian troops are using heavy flamethrower systems and high-explosive air bombs during their attacks, he added.

"They are following their standard practice of destroying what they cannot control," Sarantsev stated.

The spokesman reported that Russian military personnel remained on the plant's territory in late August, having been blocked there for several months. There were initially about 40 Russian soldiers, but they suffered losses.

HUR announced on Sept. 24 that the Vovchansk Aggregate Plant had been liberated from Russian troops. A unique operation was carried out by reconnaissance units from the Special Unit Timur, fighters from the Stuhna, Paragon, Junger, RDK, Teror, and BDK units. The plant's buildings were heavily damaged, but it is still possible to maintain a defense there. The liberated territories were handed over to the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Approximately 20 Russian soldiers were taken prisoner during the plant's liberation, and several dozen more were eliminated, according to media reports on Sept. 25.
