Russian Forces Withdraw From Key Areas of the Kharkiv Front

Russian units on the Kharkiv front have suffered so many casualties and losses of equipment that they have lost combat capability and are being withdrawn from key areas where they had previously been attempting to advance, albeit in vain. JL

New Voice of Ukraine reports:

Russian forces are withdrawing some units in Kharkiv Oblast for replenishment due to a loss of combat capability. This includes units near Vovchansk, Tykhe, and Hlyboke. The U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported on June 19 that Ukrainian forces made significant advances in the Kharkiv Oblast, reclaiming control over the settlement of Tykhe (immediately east of Vovchansk)

Russian forces are withdrawing some units in Kharkiv Oblast for replenishment due to a loss of combat capability, Nazar Voloshyn, a spokesman for the Khortytsia operational-strategic troop grouping, said on national television on June 22.

This includes units near Vovchansk, Tykhe, and Hlyboke, Voloshyn said.

"Our Armed Forces (AFU) have held the line firmly and successfully inflicted heavy losses," he said.

The Russians continue to use guided and unguided missiles to attack settlements in Kharkiv Oblast.

The AFU is inflicting losses on the Russians meanwhile. Russian forces lost 60 soldiers, two tanks, four vehicles, specialized equipment, 42 UAVs, and 18 shelters along with the personnel in the past 24 hours, Voloshyn said."The enemy has paused its active combat operations in that sector, as there were no significant actions in the past day or this morning," he said.

Kharkiv Oblast situation

The Russians had amassed up to 10,000 troops and 450 pieces of military equipment between Rayhorodka and Novovodyane to repeat their attack on Borova, the DeepState monitoring group claimed on June 18.

The Third Assault Brigade confirmed intensified Russian attacks in Kharkiv Oblast. They noted that the Russian troops are advancing with tank regiments, a large number of artillery, and additional units of Wagner and special forces.

The Third Brigade reported on June 19, that the Russians were making small tactical gains in the direction of Borova. The village is a favorable position due to its terrain and logistical connection.

Kharkiv Oblast authorities were reportedly preparing to introduce a forced evacuation from five settlements of the Borova municipality due to the intensification of shelling and the possibility of a Russian offensive.

The U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported on June 19 that Ukrainian forces made significant advances in the Kharkiv Oblast, reclaiming control over the settlement of Tykhe (immediately east of Vovchansk) and progressing in other strategic areas.
