Kremlin Constructs Belgorod Citizens' Refugee Camp - In Mariupol

Mariupol was largely destroyed during the Russian siege in 2022. It has not been rebuilt, but now that Belgorod in Russia is experiencinng a taste of the Kremlin's own fraternal medicine, displaced Belgorod citizens are being sent to aripol were they can enjoy the fruits of their army's behavior.

What may be most interesting is that Russia perceives the need to move its citizens away from the Ukrainian border, suggesting they realize the danger may be prolonged. JL

New Voice of Ukraine reports:

Russian occupation authorities are building a “refugee camp” in occupied Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast, to accommodate residents of Russia’s Belgorod Oblast. Meanwhile, many Mariupol residents remain homeless, as much of the city was destroyed in the siege of the city in early 2022. "Belgorod residents, who cheered at Mariupol being destroyed, are now hiding in Mariupol from their own war,”

Russian occupation authorities are building a “refugee camp” in occupied Mariupol, Donetsk Oblast, to accommodate residents of Russia’s Belgorod Oblast, Mariupol mayoral adviser Petro Andryushchenko reported on June 18.

According to him, Energobudproekt LLC is the contractor responsible for the construction, based on an existing children’s summer camp.

Meanwhile, many Mariupol residents remain homeless, as much of the city was destroyed in the siege of the city in early 2022, Andryushchenko noted.

“What strange games of fate; Belgorod residents, who cheered at Mariupol being destroyed, are now hiding in Mariupol from their own war,” Andryushchenko said in a Telegram post.“This clearly shows Russia’s attitude — homeless Mariupol residents have neither priority nor importance compared to the 'real' Russians.”
