Zelensky Vows Ukraine Will Fight Without Aid As It Did Against Initial Invasion

And it should be remembered that though Russia was expected to defeat Ukraine in three days, the initial Russian assault was defeated - and that the outnumbered and outgunned Ukrainians are still fighting and holding their own almost two years later.

Ukraine has demonstrated it knows how to beat the Russians, with or without aid. JL

Timothy Sigsworth reports in Yahoo! News:

Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed Ukraine will fight on against Russia with or without Western support. “In the first days of the full-scale war, on 24, February, we were really alone. It was tough. A tragic period for us and our people, and you saw how alone we’ve been. Almost occupied. It's difficult, and you lose a lot of people. If you don't want to lose your lives, your society, people, children, everybody, of course, you need a really strong defending shield from aircraft to artillery. But we didn’t run away, we began to fight, so when you say if it is possible without help... It is possible like it was. You can’t lose, because this is the only thing you have – your country.”

Volodymyr Zelensky has vowed Ukraine will fight on against Russia with or without Western support.

“In the first days of the full-scale war, on 24, February, we were really alone,” the Ukrainian president told a press conference as he visited Oslo, Norway.

“But we didn’t run away, we began to fight, so when you say if it is possible without help... It is possible like it was.”

Western support for Ukraine has wavered in the aftermath of its underwhelming summer counter-offensive.

The US Congress is refusing to approve $48bn ($61bn) in new military aid and Hungary has said it will veto accession talks and a £43bn ($54bn) aid package proposed by the European Union.

“Of course, you can’t win without help, but you can’t lose, because this is the only thing you have – your country,” Mr Zelensky added.
