How Generative AI May Make 75 Percent Of Venture Investing Decisions By 2025

Venture investors are using - or planning to employ - the generative AI tools in which they are investing.

Gartner estimates that in less than two years, 75% of venture investment decisions will be "guided" or made by AI, from assessments of analytical capability or competitive superiority to evaluation of which startups are most likely to succeed operationally and financially. What that is going to do to venture capital employment has yet to be determined. JL

Toni Pena reports in Medium:

Gartner reveals that by 2025, AI and data analytics will guide 75% of VC decisions, relegating “gut-feel” to the annals of history (because AI provides) the ability to analyze the code of tech startups, producing a science of complex data and measurable outcomes. AI presents an opportunity to convert opaque areas of venture capital into transparent, efficient, and data-driven processes. More venture capital tools and databases will apply AI tools (such as) a recently launched AI analytics tool for predicting which startups will be successful. Venture capital firms with these capabilities gain profound insights into the underlying technology propelling these businesses.

As the curtain rises on the next act of our extraordinary journey through the AI revolution in venture capital, we stand on the precipice of a new era. Brace yourselves as we delve deeper into the enchanting world of AI, where one player emerges as a true pioneer, ready to transform the venture capital industry: OpenAI’s ChatGPT’s Code Interpreter.

Now that we have a clearer picture of the Code Interpreter, let’s explore how it could reshape the venture capital industry.

Imagine a realm where code interpretation is not just a tool but a revolutionary force reshaping the very fabric of venture capital. This captivating functionality empowers AI systems to deconstruct and explain code in user-friendly terms, enabling venture capital firms to unlock unprecedented insights and make informed investment decisions.

But don’t just take my word for it — data speaks volumes.

Predictions from leading research and advisory firm Gartner reveal that by 2025, AI and data analytics will guide over 75% of VC decisions, relegating outdated “gut-feel” decision-making to the annals of history. With the advent of Code Interpreters like ChatGPT, that percentage is set to skyrocket, surpassing even the loftiest expectations. Imagine that these predictions were made in 2021 when Generative AI was in diapers.

So, what makes Code Interpreter a game-changer? Picture this: the ability to swiftly analyze the code of tech startups, peering into the heart of their technological marvels. Venture capital firms with this extraordinary capability gain profound insights into the underlying technology propelling these businesses. It’s like unlocking a secret language of growth and innovation, enabling them to make investment decisions rooted in a deep understanding of a startup’s potential.

ChatGPT’s Code Interpreter could be a powerful AI tool that enables users to analyze and understand code, providing valuable insights for venture capital firms. Compared to other AI tools used in the venture capital industry, such as Tracxn or Pitchbook, ChatGPT’s Code Interpreter offers unique capabilities that can enhance the investment decision-making process.

Tracxn: Tracxn is a tech market intelligence platform that analyzes data points on venture capital, startups, patents, and investor activity. Although Tracxn provides valuable insights into the startup ecosystem, it does not offer code interpretation capabilities like ChatGPT’s Code Interpreter.

Pitchbook: Pitchbook is a data platform that provides information on private and public equity markets, including venture capital, private equity, and M&A. While it offers valuable data for venture capitalists, it does not provide code interpretation capabilities like ChatGPT’s Code Interpreter.

While these AI tools offer valuable features for venture capitalists, ChatGPT’s Code Interpreter stands out for its unique ability to interpret and explain code in user-friendly terms. This capability can help venture capital firms gain deeper insights into the technology behind startups and make more informed investment decisions.

More and more venture capital tools and extensive databases like Pitchbook, Tracxn and Crunchbase will apply their AI analytics tools. A case in point is Pitchbok, which has recently launched its AI analytics tool for predicting which startup will be successful. But it is equally clear that the ChatGPT Code interpreter will give VC firms a quantitative advantage by being able to analyze all the information in these databases exponentially.

Financial modelling, the lifeblood of venture capital, also undergoes a remarkable transformation with Code Interpreter. Pioneering firms like Hone Capital and Two Sigma Ventures are already harnessing the power of AI algorithms to evaluate potential investments and optimize strategies. By feeding financial data into the Interpreter, venture capitalists gain a granular view of startups’ growth and profitability, empowering them to navigate the ever-changing currents of the market confidently.

But the impact doesn’t end there. Code Interpreter expedites and refines the process of evaluating startups, allowing venture capital firms to swiftly identify the most promising ones, conserving valuable resources along the way. This parallel technology universe even offers sector-specific benchmarking, presenting an efficient pathway to pinpoint prime investment opportunities amidst the vast startup landscape.

As we embark on this new phase of the AI revolution in venture capital, the importance of data ethics and privacy cannot be overstated. Trust is the cornerstone of our journey, and responsible AI usage, unbiased decision-making, and data privacy protection are essential for maintaining that trust among founders, limited partners, and all stakeholders involved.

In this brave new world, AI extends beyond being a mere set of tools. It is a catalyst driving innovation, transforming venture capital from an art of intuition to a science of complex data and measurable outcomes. AI presents an unprecedented opportunity to convert traditionally opaque areas of venture capital into transparent, efficient, and data-driven processes.

As we see before, Gartner’s predictions in 2021 paint a picture of a future where AI and data analytics shape most VC decisions. The reality of Code Interpreter pushes those predictions even further, raising the stakes and solidifying AI’s role as a driving force in venture capital.
