Ukraine Forces Advance On Kreminna As Russia Remains Obsessed With Bakhmut
Kreminna is more strategically important than Bakhmut, but the Russians have stubbornly remain fixated on the latter. This has given Ukraine an opportunity to advance on Kreminna, which now appears almost surrounded, with Ukrainian troops reportedly entering the city. JL
Daily Kos reports:
Kreminna is strategically important for two reasons: it opens up a southern approach to Svatove and, beyond
that, Starobilsk. If Ukraine takes those towns, itcuts Russia’s largest supply linefeeding its war effort, from Belgorod, Russia. Kreminna is also the gateway to Rubizhne,
Severodonetsk, and Lysychansk. Kreminna
severs the road down from Svatove. That’s step one. If Ukraine can
liberate Starobilsk, then that cluster of cities will have to be
resupplied by a single road from the southeast—a road that also
helps supply … Bakhmut. Russia’s rickety supply lines would be stressed
even further.
While Wagner mercenaries continue their slow grind down in Soledar, Ukrainian forces have their own slow grind around Kreminna. Here’s themain war frontsat the moment:
