...companies that also offer significant career growth. Which should be a useful indicator to organizations everywhere. JL

Netflix , Google, Facebook and LinkedIn ranked in the top 15 for happiness and more than 80% of employees said they had moderate or significant career growth in 2019. All of the Silicon Valley companies in the top 15 list for career growth also made it into the top 15 with the happiest employees. ServiceNow employees ranked among the happiest, (but) only two-thirds said they had grown professionally. Tesla, PayPal, VMware and Cisco all ranked among the 15 happiest, but didn’t score among the top companies for professional growth.

Netflix, ServiceNow and Google have some of the happiest employees in Silicon Valley, but employees at only two of those companies said they had experienced skyrocketing career growth, according to a new survey from the anonymous workplace forum Blind.

Over a three-week period in December, Blind surveyed 10,129 users — with between 30 and 827 responses for each company — whose employers had been verified by their work email addresses.

The survey asked two questions: “In 2019, how much growth do you think you had while working at your organization?” and “Are you happy at your current workplace?”

The results found that four Silicon Valley giants — Netflix Inc., Alphabet Inc.'s Google, Facebook Inc. and Microsoft Corp.'s LinkedIn — ranked in the top 15 for both happiness and with more than 80 percent of employees saying they had seen moderate or significant career growth in 2019.

While ServiceNow Inc. employees ranked among the happiest, only two-thirds of respondents at the Santa Clara software company said they had grown professionally in 2019.

ServiceNow isn’t the only Silicon Valley giant where workers ranked as among the happiest, but didn’t report overwhelming career growth. Tesla Inc., PayPal Holdings, VMware and Cisco Systems Inc. all ranked among the 15 happiest companies, but didn’t score among the top companies for professional growth.

Notably, all of the Silicon Valley companies in the top 15 list for career growth also made it into the top 15 companies with the happiest employees.
