Visa, Pizza Hut and Accenture Are Developing an In-Car Pizza Order System

Convenience, speed and technology.

This same day delivery thing has created a logistical challenge for any business attempting to satisfy its customers. Which means all of them.

The big pizza companies probably thought they were ahead of the game with their online ordering systems. But hey, that's what, like two years old now?

Tell me something I dont already know: like the minute my pizza comes out of the oven.

Surprise me - pleasantly - I might even consider not switching to another pizza maker for a buck less. At least not tonight. JL

Mark Sullivan reports in Venture Beat:

The three companies are collaborating on a connected car that is expected to feature Visa Checkout, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Beacon technology at Pizza Hut restaurants “to alert staff when the customer has arrived to pick up the order.” Accenture is managing the systems integration.
Visa, Pizza Hut, and Accenture say they’ve teamed up to let you buy stuff from your car. Yeah.
The three companies are collaborating on a connected car that is expected to feature Visa Checkout (Visa’s online payment service), cellular connectivity, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Beacon technology deployed at Pizza Hut restaurants “to alert staff when the customer has arrived and is ready to pick up the order.” Accenture is managing the systems integration.
Even if this pizza smells a little half-baked, the companies will be here at Mobile World Congress demonstrating it.
Visa says Visa Checkout will allow consumers to easily order food from the car. Interactive Voice Response (IVR) will be used to let the driver order and authenticate purchases while keeping both hands on the steering wheel.
The companies plan to test the connected car commerce system in Northern California over a three-month period starting this spring.
Why is this important? Because pizza is delicious.
